When Aamir Khan doesn’t show up for an award function, it is understandable. He has sworn off award shows for life and he won’t appear in any unless it is the Academy Award show itself! He won’t break this tradition even for the award show that is popularly called the Indian Oscars show. But we were stunned to see that like the Mumbai voter turnout, the actor turnout at IIFA this year was low.

There were some socially responsible actors like Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh stayed back a day just to cast their votes and then flew to Florida for the event. Anushka Sharma who was missing from the wrap up party of Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet last week has been shooting in Jodhpur for her maiden production – NH10. The Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi babe ventured into production with NH10 and has been constantly shooting in Jodhpur for the same. The film is being made by Navdeep Singh, director of the acclaimed Manorama Six Feet Under.

As per the latest update, NH10 was hit by a sandstorm recently, however there were no injuries reported and everyone on the sets is safe. The Jab Tak Hai Jaan actor tweeted confirming the news. “We encountered a massive sand storm on d set of #NH10 yesterday.Very scary.But everyone is OK.Just very dirty & sandy(if tat’s even a word) (sic).”.........

The bash was attended by major big wigs of the industry including the film’s lead actor Ranbir Kappor, Karan Johar who is playing villain in the film, Remo Fernandez, Vikram Aditya Motwane, Siddhartha Basu, Vikas Bahl among others. However, the film’s leading lady Anushka Shrma was missing from the celebration. Par kyun?

Was Virat Kohli the reason why Anushka missed BV’s event? Though, we are not saying this, Anushka’s good friend and co-star Karan Johar said this at the party. Shahrukh Khan certainly is the man of the moment for us. While the press couldn’t get Virat Kohli to admit his love for Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar could not make the Bombay Velvet babe spill beans on her cricketer boyfriend, SRK has managed the impossible. Not only did King Khan get Virat to wear a huge portrait of Anushka on his neck, but the actor even conducted a swayamvar for this sought after cricketing hero.

Both Virat and Anushka have taken time off from their busy schedule to spend time with each other. While their entries and exits from Mumbai are perfectly timed, the duo also ensures to fly down and visit each other in different places. Anushka was spotted walking hand-in-hand with Mr Kohli in Auckland and Virat flew all the way to Sri Lanka immediately after the T20 World cup to join his lady love on the sets of Bombay Velvet. That’s not it, we hear he flew all the way to NH 10 sets in Jodhpur before taking off for the IPL 7 season series in Abu Dhabi..........

Rishi Kapoor has not been very picky with his roles these days. In his second innings he has given us good films like Do Dooni Chaar, Namastey London, Love Aaj Kal, Patiala House, Agneepath, Aurangzeb, D Day, etc but he has not spared us from watching his horrific performances in Housefull 2, Chashme Buddoor, Student Of The Year, Shuddh Desi Romance, Besharam, etc. We are happy that at a recent press meet he apologised to the media for one such terrible performance.

Rishi apologised to us not just for himself but also on the behalf of his wife, Neetu Kapoor, and son Ranbir Kapoor for having worked in Besharam. The film that is best remembered as the movie which brought the three together for the first time, had disastrous box office collections and even terrible reviews that had put the whole Kapoor khandaan to shame. Talking to a leading daily he said, ”It was bloody disappointing. Neetu, Ranbir and I are all sorry we did that film. When Abhinav approached us, I thought it would be an entertaining film but it went terribly wrong. He was over confident, still high on the success of Dabangg. However if he comes up with a better script, may be I’ll work with him again.”........
                                       

Karan Johar: My father thought I should act!

The producer-director, who is making his full-fledged acting debut with Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet, has thanked him for making his late father Yash Johar’s wish come true:



“My father thought I should be an actor…I didn’t. Thank you Anurag Kashyap for fulfilling my dad’s wish…just wrapped Bombay Velvet!”

In Bombay Velvet, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, Karan plays a villain. The movie, co-produced by Fox Star Studios and Phantom Films, will see Karan in the role of a rich businessman who plays a crucial role in the life of Ranbir’s onscreen character. Now we are not sure how an actor KJo will be after all, acting is not exactly his forte, right!.........
