Revolver Rani box office collection: Kangana Ranaut’s movie mints Rs 3.25 crore in two days!

Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer 2 States is in its second week and has raked in about Rs.70 crore at the domestic box office. Close on its heels is Revolver Rani, which came out this weekend:



Samrat & Co. and Subhash Ghai’s Kaanchi haven’t struck the right chord yet.
According to sources, 2 States, which released April 18, has earned Rs.69.83 crore net in the country. Based on a bestseller by author Chetan Bhagat, it is directed by first-timer Abhishek Varman.

“2 States is still leading. Among the new releases, Revolver Rani is doing the best. It has minted approximately Rs 3.25 crore in two days. Kaanchi has collected about Rs.1.25 crore and Samrat & Co. must have earned not more than Rs 50 lakh,” informed Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines.......

Born on April 24, 1987 Varun Dhawan is the son of director David Dhawan. This two-film year old actor started his career by assisting Karan Johar on My Name is Khan in 2010 along with Sidharth Malhotra and the two hotties went on to star in KJo’s dramedy Student of The Year in 2012. Varun also received a nomination for Filmfare’s Best Male Debut.

A lot of people don’t know that Varun is trained in business management and he also worked as a model for a while. Varun is the closest to his brother, the Desi Boyz director Rohit Dhawan and he is fondly addressed as Pappu by his daddy. Jr Dhawan wanted to become a wrestler when he was young and is a great fan of the wrestler turned actor Rock.

Varun Dhawan’s chemistry with Alia Bhatt has been doing the rounds but the two keep denying rumours about seeing each other. Now the filmmakers have released the wedding track Hulla Re. Composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Hulla Re has a mixed flavour of North and South. The lyrics are a fusion of Punjabi and Tamil words and though one may not understand the Tamil part of the song, it does not make it less entertaining. And the video is simply beautiful. In the video, we get to see Ananya (Alia) and Krish’s (Arjun) family preparing for the wedding. As Alia decks up for the wedding, it’s difficult to take our eyes off her. We get a glimpse of Arjun’s strained relationship with his father. And whilst these preparations, Alia and Arjun both look stunning as the bride and the groom. After grossing Rs 12.13 crore on its first day, the film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling novel of the same name witnessed a great response over the weekend as well:



Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor’s first film together has turned out to a blockbuster. First time director Abhishek Varman’s 2 States which released on Friday has literally created hungama at the box office. Frankly speaking, we aren’t surprised coz the film did look promising courtesy the very talented Ms Bhatt and the Kapoor lad. Not to forget their onscreen sizzling chemistry which grabbed eyeballs ever since the first trailer of 2 States was released. We are sure both Alia and her onscreen lover must be happy with the response that their film has garnered. After all, Dharma Productions latest venture has raked in Rs 38.06 crore in its first weekend itself. Highly impressive, hai na? Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “2 States has a FANTABULOUS weekend. Fri Rs 12.42 cr, Sat 12.13 cr, Sun 13.51 cr. Total: 38.06 cr nett. From playing a rugged and angry character to playing a coy and boy-next-door guy, that’s exactly how I would describe Arjun Kapoor’s transition from Gunday to 2 States. In Dharma Productions next venture, Boney Kapoor’s beta will be seen romancing the very gorgeous Alia Bhatt. And though their onscreen chemistry is the talk of town at the moment, 2 States as Arjun says is not a quintessential filmy love story. It’s much more than that. When we recently caught with the B-town hunk, he seemed super excited about his latest film and pretty confident too that the audience won’t regret watching the adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling novel of the same name on the big screen. 2 States movie review: Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor’s cross cultural romance is ridiculously adorable!

Abhishek Varman’s mushy movie based on Chetan Bhagat’s popular romantic novel with the same title is as breezy, fluffy and promisingly entertaining as Bhagat’s unpretentiously simplistic writing!



IT IS ‘FASHIONABLE’ TO SLAM CHETAN BHAGAT or his writing, or both!! What is even  trendier though is to claim that every movie based on a popular book/novel doesn’t quite match up to the content and the quality of the original form of art. The swankiest lot of the town loves to hate Bhagat’s books. Most of them discuss the writer and his work with their noses scrunched up in cocktail parties to sound appropriate in the ears of the voracious readers. But there’s no doubt about the fact that Bhagat is entertaining, engaging and downright cheap ( with books sold under Rs 100 that’s the adjective one chooses strictly, if not, exactly, symbolically)

But hey didn’t the IIM- A graduate-turned-banker-turned-writer get young India into the habit of reading with his breezy and unpretentiously simple writing? That you dismiss CB for not being as prolific as a Salman Rushdie or a Jhumpa Lahiri or , for that matter, a VS Naipaul, in terms of depth of the subject matter or the flourish of the linguistic dexterity, could be a subjective choice. But the fact that his books are so easy to comprehend that they can be-oops, have repeatedly been-translated into movies, just as they are, speaks for CB’s achievement to connect with young India. 2 States-the movie, just like 2 States the book, is no different. Matching Chetan’s writing, the film is indeed light, easy on the eye and unbelievably uncomplicated. And for those who like their books better than the movies inspired from the texts, I suggest to give this cinematic treat a deserving chance. I am sure Alia Bhatt’s effortlessly charming performance and Arjun Kapoor’s ease in front of the camera, coupled with Varman’s commendable execution as a director, will make you fall in love all over again!........
