Are You Waiting for the Universe to Fall into Place or Are You Stuck?

If you’ve struggled with a problem that just didn’t seem to want to move out of your way, maybe you already know what I mean when I talk about the choice between staying stuck or waiting for the universe to fall into place. It’s like the universe doesn’t want you to move past whatever it is that you’re dealing with. You’re waiting for the stars to align, waiting for the cosmic green light, but it just doesn’t seem to be happening. And until you get that signal, you’re just not sure what to do. So, are you supposed to wait for the universe to align, or stay stuck forever?

Staying Stuck

Obviously, staying stuck is not a great choice. You’re not thrilled with your current situation, or you wouldn’t be thinking of moving on. But they call it “stuck” for a reason: you just don’t know what to do. If you allow it, you can dwell here for a very long time.

Waiting for the Universe to Align

Although “they” don’t tell you, this can be another form of staying stuck. While it feels like you’re waiting for something more spiritual to happen, you’re actually waiting for something external to shift instead of creating a vision of what you want in your life and going after it.
You’re just as stuck waiting for the universe to change things as you are when you’re stuck in your own head. You’ve just been letting yourself off the hook because you felt like you were “letting go,” or something equally calming and peaceful. But often, you’re really still stuck, you just don’t know it.

Getting Clear

So how do you actually move from that stuck place where you don’t know what to do, or from the place where you’re waiting for someone or something to tell you what to do, and onto deciding what is right for you and moving towards that?

1. Find Calm

It’s extremely hard to make decisions, especially difficult ones when you’re not feeling calm. If you’re frazzled, you’re not going to be able to make good decisions for yourself. Not only does this cause you to potentially make a mistake with this decision, it also causes you to not trust yourself the next time you’re faced with indecision. You want to build that trust so you can make thoughtful and effective decisions for yourself in the future. Find a healthy way to be calm. Go for a run, meditate, take a hot bath, talk to a friend – whatever works for you. It might take a few days or more to feel relaxed, but when you can, you’re in the right frame of mind.
