Fugly movie review: Akshay Kumar produces a powerful youth-centric and friendly film!

Actor turned director Kabir Sadanand peeks into the administration system of our nation with Fugly. But does he manage to leave an impact in the film? Read our review to find out…

They say don’t judge a book by it’s cover. And Fugly is certainly one of those good examples of this adage. The film marks the debut of Mohit Marwah (Anil Kapoor’s newphew), Kiara Advani and Olympic medalist Vijender Singh. It also stars Arfi Lamba, who was also seen in Slumdog Millionaire. Contrary to what the trailers suggest, Fugly is surely not just a youth-centric and friendly drama. This film is quite unusual and at the same time very entertaining, with a thoughtful message that acts like a cherry on a cake.........

Bollywood before Broadway for Sonakshi Sinha!

Bollywood comes before Broadway for the Holiday babe:

Sonakshi Sinha is one busy bee. The Holiday actor is eagerly waiting to find out the fate of her latest release at the box office; however her choc-o-block filmi schedule has often made her loose opportunities. While she might sneak out for some ‘me’ time with alleged beau Shahid Kapoor, she certainly had to let go some plum opportunities.

The Lootera babe was once approached by New York Broadway, while she missed it once, in a tête-à-tête with BollywoodLife, the Lootera babe expressed her regret, “Yes I was approached but I wasn’t able to do it because in order to go there, rehearse, practice and give that much time to the shows, I could not leave my work here.”..........

Born on 2nd June, 1987, Sonakshi Sinha will blow 27 candles on her birthday cake today. Born to Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, Sona entered Bollywood with a filmi connection and was crowned as the masala queen. She quite enjoys the title and doesn’t shy away from admitting that it runs in her blood. Before entering filmdom, Sonakshi Sinha was a costume designer and has designed costumes for films like Mera Dil Leke Dekho in 2005. In 2008 and 2009, she sashayed the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week. Akshay Kumar, Sunny Deol or Ram Gopal Varma, who made the worst Bollywood sequel?

Sequels have been a part of B-Town since long, but there have been some which didn’t work at all in the past year. Read on find out why…

Himesh Reshammiya is all set to come up with the sequel to The Xpose, and the decision has been made within a week of the film’s release. We are, however, surprised that the film did well the box office, considering it was a Himesh Reshammiya film. Now we will have to wait and watch as to how the sequel pans out as there will be huge expectations from the fans. However critics anyways had less hopes from The Xpose and wethinks that’s not going to change for the sequel as well. Still we couldn’t stop ourselves from thinking about similar such instances in the past where the sequels had huge expectations but didn’t do really well. Here are some which didn’t do well in the last year...........

Its Entertainment poster: Akshay Kumar turns a dog!

The Holiday star is all set to tickle your funny bone with his new doggie avatar:

The makers of Akshay Kumar’s latest film, Its Entertainment are out with the first poster of the film. By glancing at the first look, you definitely get a feel that it will be one of those Akshay Kumar slap stick comedy flicks where he takes center stage and doesn’t allow anyone else to stand in front. Its Entertainment, directed by Farhad-Sajid, will be Akshay’s next release after Holiday. The film is all set to hit theatres on August 8, 2014.

The trailer of the film will be released anytime today, but till then we are left wondering as to what the story line would be all about. If we look at the poster we can see a golden retriever sitting on a golden throne with a golden crown on its head. Also we can see Akshay Kumar sitting in front just like a dog with a big doggie-like smile on his face, ...........

Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Ranveer Singh – meet Bollywood’s latecomers!

These Bollywood biggies have time and again reported late on the sets of their respective films:

Early this month we had reported that CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes Association) and IFTPC (Indian Film and TV Producers Council) had jointly signed an MOU stating the television actors who turn up late will be fined for their lack of regulation. While we told you about the TV stars, we thought if the same MOU was applicable for our filmi stars, which actors would come under the purview of late comers? It’s not a lesser known fact that film actors from decades have incurred this habit of reaching late on the sets or worst not turning up at all. We bring to you seven such actors from the Hindi cinema who often report late on the sets.

Shahrukh Khan:  King Khan often takes his Baadshah tag rather seriously. The Kal Ho Naa Ho actor has this strange practice to reach the sets two hours late. In fact, during one of the promotional events for My Name Is Khan, Shahrukh’s close friend Karan Johar did admit that the Dil Se actor is punctually late by two hours..............

Holiday song Shaayraana making: Why did Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha have trouble shooting the song?

Akki and Sona’s romantic number Shaayraana is a visual delight but the lead pair of Holiday reveals it wasn’t easy for them to shoot the song:

Just a few days back by the makers Holiday: A Solider Is Never Off Duty released the song Shaayraana which has been sung by none other than Arijit Singh. Featuring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, we totally loved this track as its easy on the ears and has been shot beautifully. However, both Ms Sinha and AK had a tough time filming this one. In the making video, director AR Murugadoss says Shaayraana is his most favourite song from his upcoming film. ............

Interestingly, Akshay Kumar was all praises for Lisa (who was last seen in Queen) . He wrote, "1st shot of my new film 'SHAUKEEN'. It's been a great day! Well done Lisa Haydon, fab job! U were born for the big screen!"

Housefull 3 to release in April 2014

Pointing out that a sequel takes off where the last film ended, he says that in the case of Housefull, subsequent films will only be centered around a big house and confusion galore. “They will be different stories with new characters and actors. Only the two Sajids — producer Sajid Nadidawala and me —will remain constant. And no Housefull will be made without Akshay Kumar,” he says. ........

Singh Is Bling first poster: Akshay Kumar teams up with Prabhu Dheva for another Singh Is Kinng!

Check out the Khiladi Kumar in his latest avatar…

Akshay Kumar and Prabhu Dheva are all set to team up again for another blockbuster—Singh Is Bling. The actor-director duo had previously given the superhit Rowdy Rathore and now it seems they are all set to repeat the same magic again.

Going by the first poster of the film, it seems that it has been pretty much inspired by Akshay’s 2008 blockbuster Singh Is Kinng. It maybe because of the dashing Sardar look or maybe the poses in which Akki is seen on the posters, both of which are pretty much similar to that of Singh Is Kinng. The poster shows a stylish Akshay wearing a lot of gold jewellery, which includes his jewel studded shoes and turban. Akki is also seen holding a rather blingy gun, which makes him look more like a ‘mafia don’. Plus there are loads of dollars flying all around..........

Who trained Sonakshi Sinha for her role in Holiday?

The feisty actor gets trained from a good looking boxer. Read on to know what this deal is all about..

Unlike our regular porcelain dolls in B-town, Sonakshi Sinha comes across as a woman who can deliver some solid punches with conviction, pretty convincingly. And we will see the feisty babe employing her fist to killer effect in her forthcoming movie Holiday co-starring Akshay Kumar.

We all know that Sonakshi Sinha’s look in the movie is inspired by Laila Ali. To make her character look authentic and unbelievably strong, India’s boxing champ Vijender Singh worked hard in tandem with Sona. “I trained Sonakshi for some days at my gym. I also shared some diet tips with her. She was advised to have only ghar ka khana, that too properly — with roti, sabzi and dal. I also asked her to drink lots of water and avoid high-calorie food,” elaborated Vijender........

Is Akshay Kumar obsessed with Sonakshi Sinha?

It seems all Akki can do is think about Ms Sinha but that’s only in reel and not in real life…

Okay, so Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha are just co-stars and we are only talking about a song from their upcoming film Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. Tu hi toh hai is a fun romantic number wherein Khiladi Kumar is trying to pataofy his onscreen ladylove and sings, ‘Tu hi to hai khayaal mera, tu hi to hai karaar mera.’ Now that explains our title, hai na? The Akshay and Sonakshi starrer will hit the theatres in June but the film has already grabbed attention. Hence we decided to have little fun by getting lost in the translation. So below is the brand new angrezi version of Tu hi toh hai. Read, have fun and most importantly tell us whether it’s funny or not…

Aawaargi karta hoon,

par main awaara nahi

Chhoda khulla dil ko

Magar khud ko bigaada nahi..........

Sonakshi Sinha beats Akshay Kumar in basketball – Watch video!

Khiladi Kumar may be perfect when it comes to doing action sequences or daredevil stunts but the actor is not-so-good in playing basketball:

Sonakshi Sinha and Akshay Kumar starrer Holiday: A Solider Is Never Off Duty will hit the theatres in June. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film is a remake of a 2012 Tamil blockbuster Thuppakki. While Akki and Sona’s Holiday looks promising but what’s interesting is that both the actors had a gala time shooting this one. How do we know, you ask? Well, we caught hold of video which was filmed the crew members of the film. It’s a basketball match between Kumar and Ms Sinha. Riteish Deshmukh to star in Housefull 3 alongside Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan

Yes, the trio will come together for the third installment of Housefull franchise to be directed by Sajid-Farhad:

Riteish Deshmukh was part of Housefull and Housefull 2, both directed by his buddy Sajid Khan. The director on Housefull 3 has changed but Riteish Deshmukh will now be working with the new directors Sajid-Farhad. Strangely, while the names of Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan coming together were announced with grand fanfare, Riteish’s name for now, is being kept under wraps. Probably because everyone is worried about Khan’s reaction to that bit of news........

Is Akshay Kumar depriving the stuntmen of their payment?

Read on to know the full story:

Everybody in Bollywood knows that Akshay Kumar loves performing his own stunts, no matter how risky, dangerous or challenging they are. What few people know is that though he does the stunts himself, Akshay makes sure that the stunt doubles do not remain deprived of their payments. The stunt artists are not only paid per day but also according to their stunts – so the more difficult the stunts, the more they get paid despite the actor doing all the risky moves himself.

Says a source close to the star, “Akshay has always loved doing all his stunts. In fact, that’s the reason he joined the film industry. More than becoming an actor he wanted to perform daredevil stunts on his own. Even now, Akshay maintains that he’s a stuntsman first and then an actor. But when he discovered that by doing his own stunts, his stunt doubles were deprived of their earnings, Akshay decided to take a stand. Akshay tells all his producers to pay the stuntsmen exactly the remuneration that they would have got had they done the stunts.”........

Koffee with Karan 4 awards: What do Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor deserve to win?

This season of Koffee with Karan had its share of steam and the mandatory beans (spilling liberally out of some starry mouths) that produced some eye-popping moments, oodles of fun and some juicy conversations. We decided to jog through the entire season to find out which new titles our master host KJo could possibly come up with to reward our starry folks for the rare talents they possess:

We enjoy the glamorous note on which every episode of Koffee with Karan commences. The chatty host introduces every guest with an interesting opening, often extolling our stars’ virtues and accomplishments. (KJo must have scratched his witty head hard to craft an intro for Abhishek Bachchan though!)

Once the celebs cascade alongside those Victorian style banister they start showing off the best stuff they have collected, enhanced or are naturally born with. By that we mean not just the legs, the cleavages and the glossy skin (or the pout, for that matter-Nargis Fakhri and Anushka Sharma will get it what are we talking about)..........
