Three big banner films namely Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heropanti, Ekta Kapoor’s Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi and Vishesh Film’s CityLights is all set to hit the theatres this month. One common thing in all these films is casting of fresh faces for lead female roles.

Simran Kaur Mundi from Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, Kriti Sanon from Heropanti and Patralekha from CityLights have all been models and have done several commercials before venturing into films. Three faces which the casting directors love have had an interesting struggle in the film industry. While Kriti had an engineering degree for back up, Patralekha had no other option except films. Mahesh Bhatt: Citylights not a festival film

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who is backing Citylights, a remake of Metro Manila, says Hansal Mehta’s directorial venture should not be described as festival movie because it has all the elements of a commercial cinema:



“Citylights is not a festival film. It’s an Indian film, it has an Indian story, it has fragrance of our own people and it has songs in it. We have got amazing feedback so far. It’s a very brave idea to make the film,” Bhatt told reporters Monday at the unveiling of 26 minutes’ footage of Citylights.

Though it’s a remake, Mehta said he has yet to see the British movie.......
                                               

Is Sonam Kapoor’s Dolly Ki Doli copied?

Sonam Kapoor can’t seem to stop raving about her upcoming film Dolly Ki Doli. The Arbaaz Khan production stars Rajkummar Rao, Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma and wethinks that the film is a rip-off of RSVP (Ronde Saare Vyaah Picho), a Punjabi film that was released last year.

RSVP is about a conwoman who marries rich Punjabi men and then robs them of their wealth until she meets and falls in love with one of her targets. Sonam will be playing the role of this runaway bride. The plot sounds interesting but we are assuming that the makers of Dolly Ki Doli will tweak it a little........
