There's fixin' to be a major color splash in Hollywood! According to Andy Lecompte Salon colorist Daniel Moon, the man behind Kylie Jenner's latest blue ‘do: "Punk is the new pretty and pretty is the new punk."
Which explains why the E! star opted for the cerulean tint when she visited him earlier this week. Moon says Kylie was "asking for either a green or blue color. I created a custom green and blue palette she liked using Pravana Vivids hair color."
She "made my job easy," he added. "She came in asking for blue or green hair, and was very aware of the effect the chosen shade would have on her skin tone, and how it would fade. I recommended using more than one color to add dimension and she agreed."
"This was the first time I worked with Kylie," Moon said. "She was using chalk to color her hair prior, and finally committed to something more long-lasting. As for her reaction: She loved it!"
The result, as we already know, was quite vibrant but not permanent. "These colors last anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks, which allows clients to experiment more," explains Moon.
So, yes, unless the 16-year-old comes in for another appointment soon, she will be rocking the bold hue at sister Kim Kardashian's wedding to Kanye West.
Moon predicts there will be quite a lot of celebrities sitting in his chair this summer: "Ever since Nicole Richie set the bar as a lavender princess, I would say this is only the beginning of more colorful hairstyles."
In addition to Richie, Moon has worked with Samantha Ronson, Rumer Willis, Rita Ora, Grimes, Warpaint, Riff Raff and others.
"'Punk' is an attitude that rebels against traditional values," Moon mused. "That's exactly what is happening here. Young starlets are adopting this attitude and designers are supporting them. Designer Vivienne Westwood has made a career of this.
"Kylie Jenner has this attitude and is confident in her style. Youth culture has always influenced fashion. This is what is happening now."
